WES18 Mk1
WES18 Mk1 at a farm in the Netherlands

The WES18 Mk1 has the reputation of being durable and reliable. The typical two-bladed rotor has a unique hinged system and a passive blade angle adjustment. This unique mechanism needs very little maintenance. Over 600 units have been installed at (agricultural) businesses, small communities and at coastal and mountainous sites. Its weight and size allow for easy installation at remote locations.
With the WES18 Mk1 connected to your farm, business, school, golf course, resort or any other location, you can harvest the wind and generate your own green energy. In other words, "Produce it where you use it"! This powerhouse can produce an average of 180.000 kWh/year at an average wind speed of 6,5 m/s. It takes little imagination to see the enormous reduction possible in your electricity bill.
Easy to erect
The WES18 Mk1 comes with a tubular tower. The tower can be shipped in a container. For special remote locations, where no crane is available, installation without a crane is possible. The WES18 on a 31 meter lattice tower can be erected with the use of a special hoisting rig and an electric winch. For more information, please go to our WES Hybrid System page.
Sturdy & User-friendly
It is characterised by:
| easy maintenance | |
| high reliability | |
| easy installation, even at hard to reach locations | |
| low loads on the gearbox and shaft | |
| the AC/DC/AC principle which allows the turbine to follow the grid | |
| mechanical passive blade pitch and active yaw |
Size
With an 18 meter rotor diameter this a medium sized turbine. With 18, 24, 30 and 39 meter towers it can even be erected with relatively small cranes at difficult locations.
State-of-the-Art
In 2005 WES introduced its new state-of-the-art IGBT Control Cabinet with the commissioning of first two new WES18 wind turbines in Indonesia. Since then the new control and inverter cabinet has proven to be an extremely stable platform that outperforms any other turbine in this class.
WES has designed new software and combined this with new IGBT converters from Control Techniques Ltd., bringing the proven WES18 wind turbines into the 21st century.
The new Control Cabinet includes:
| a new user-friendly PLC interface | |
| dynamic output control | |
| remote monitoring & control system |
